Underwear as Outerwear: Brand Profile and Top Picks - Nichole de Carle London (Part 2)

Hello! :)  Before we dive into the beautiful world of Nichole de Carle London for the second time around I first want to thank everyone for their comments and support throughout this underwear as outerwear series - it really gives me the motivation to keep going and just love that I am helping readers find out about new brands and the latest styles.  So keep on commenting everyone and let me know your thoughts or anything else you would like to see on the blog.  Anyway, back to today.  This is the second part of my Nichole de Carle London brand focus (read the first one here) and today we are going to get a little bit riskier in the underwear as outerwear stakes and I cannot simply wait!  The pieces on offer today need some careful styling for them to become part of your outerwear attire but that is where I come in - I am going to be your personal stylist making underwear as outerwear become a reality and boy have I picked some delightful pieces for us to play with!  Let's get stuck in!

SS14 Signature Catwalk Brief with Braces
and SS14 Signature Westminster Brief with Braces:
SS14 Signature Catwalk Brief with Braces
SS14 Signature Catwalk Brief with Braces
SS14 Signature Westminster Brief with Braces

SS14 Signature Westminster Brief with Braces
Now these pieces are special, extra special.  The SS14 Signature Catwalk Brief with Braces starts at the bottom with a beautiful geometric brief with thick black serrated cut edges which then lead up the body into a diamond, architecturally influenced panel over the stomach.  The braces finish over the shoulders with a double strap design and a focal point ring at the bust drawing attention to the bust and d├ęcolletage.  Possibly my favourite detail of the brief is the gorgeous bow-tie at the lower back, crossing over the braces to create a geometric form over the back.  The influence for this brief came from the complex beauty of the Eiffel Tower in Paris - now as a true lover of Paris this makes the piece even more beautiful to me.  The brief is available in sizes XS, S, M, L and XL retailing at £159.00 available at the Nichole de Carle London website here.  The SS14 Signature Westminster Brief with Braces is similar in nature to the Signature Catwalk brief but is slightly less detailed making it less of a statement piece but of course not deterring from its beauty.  The brief consists of geometric panels of teal and black silk leaving a jaggy edge showing off the hip bones.  The braces then lead up the body with four leading braces creating a diamond shape in the centre and then finishing over each shoulder with a simple single strap.  The SS14 Signature Westminster Brief with Braces is available in sizes XS, S, M, L and XL retailing at £105.00 available on the Nichole de Carle London website here.

Now how do we style these wonderful pieces? First things first the beautiful brief section covering our bums needs to be covered.  This is not the type of look where we throw on a top and literally walk around in our knickers with our bottoms hanging out - no.  We need to keep our dignity here.  Instead we need to show off the intricacy and true delight of the braces.  Now we can keep it simple by wearing jeans and a strappy top letting the braces over our shoulders be on show for the world, this idea would also work with a dress with thin straps.  This spin on the brief as underwear as outerwear is delicate yet at the same time it adds power and drama to the outfit.  To heat things up a little and show off another detail of the braces over the stomach we could rock a crop top pair with some boyfriend jeans or some low-rise skinnies drawing attention to the geometric form of the braces in this area.  This look would be casual but with an edgy vibe. To dress it up for evening throw on a formal skirt be it pencil, a-line or full - keep it black to tie in with the braces and pair it with an evening crop top with details like sequins or fringing in a colour to contrast with the black braces and black skirt.  These are only a couple of ideas for these briefs to be worn as outerwear. The key is to show off the straps just a little adding extra edge and intrigue to your outfit.

 SS14 Loungewear Long Night Gown:

SS14 Loungewear Long Night Gown

SS14 Loungewear Long Night Gown
Now this is a show stopper.  A classic low cut plunge dress at the front but the back is where the party starts.  Sheer lace gorgeousness falling from the bottom of the back down to the floor.  The sexy crossover straps and backless detailing just makes this dress to die for.  Ok, I keep saying dress - I know it is a nightgown but this is the underwear as outerwear series remember.  We cannot walk around in this nightgown and our knickers for a night on the town (even though this look would look irresistible in the bedroom) but what we can do is cover our bottom up add some heels and we are good to go.  To cover our bottoms I am going to suggest a pair of black leggings - think Emma Watson at the Golden Globes 2014 in that to die for red Dior showstopper dress which she paired with a gorgeous pair of black fitted cigarette pants and deep purple heels.  Not only will this option cover your modesty but it will also look very fashion-forward and will be a conversation starter for sure.  Another option would be to slip on a black silk underskirt which would die in with the loungewear theme or a black bodycon skirt.  Now of course you could step away from the black and add in a pop of colour - like a pale pink silk underskirt or navy leggings for a demure take on colour.  The SS14 Loungewear Long Night Gown is available in sizes XS, S, M, L and XL retailing at £395.00 available on the Nichole de Carle London website here as part of their Made to Order range.

Thank you all very much for reading, I really hope you have enjoyed this post.  Nichole de Carle London is true lingerie and loungewear luxury and with their use of top quality fabrics and incredible heart-stopping designs.  This brand deserves all the credit they receive!  My next post will be up on Tuesday, it will be the final instalment of the underwear as outerwear series where I will round up some of my favourite underwear as outerwear looks from Pinterest - I thought it would be a fitting way to round up the series!

Underwear as Outerwear: Brand Profile and Top Picks - Nichole de Carle London (Part 1)

Hello my lingerie lovelies! :) Firstly before we dive into this gorgeous unpublished world of lingerie again I need to apologise for my absence from the blog over the last couple of months.  I have wanted to post, I really, really have because I enjoy it so much - creating the content, visualising posts, creating and sourcing images and interacting with the blogging community and of course my readers.  Unfortunately life just got in the way.  I changed job and with interview preparation, attending interviews and now settling into my new position, my own free time has just been so rare that blogging was not an option.  However, I am back now and hope to create a more regular upload schedule with two uploads a week - one on a Tuesday and one on a Sunday.  I am not setting this in stone but just want to let you know my intentions so you know when to keep your eyes open for new posts!  Ok - I need to stop talking and get on with this exciting post!

The Credentials:
Today, I have an exquisite, British brand to share with you all.  This brand epitomises my idea of fashion forward lingerie and its translatability into our ready-to-wear wardrobes is o-so-attractive - it is edgy, sexy, and ultra chic all at the same time.  The pieces are not for the faint hearted but trust me if you are brave enough to indulge in this brand, you WILL NOT regret it!  The brand is called Nichole de Carle London, a British brand with a sexy, so-fashion-forward-it-hurts image and collections of ultimate lingerie and loungewear luxury.  Trust me, these pieces I am about to show you are beyond sensational.  It is no surprise that the brand have a celebrity following that boasts the likes of Jessie J, Cheryl Cole and - my ultimate favourite as always - Beyonce (remember that famous Drunk in Love performance at the Grammy's - yes this is where she got that fabulous outfit).  Of course it was not long before the fashion pack got behind Nichole de Carle London and soon their pieces were gracing the pages of Elle and Zink magazines (to name but a few) on a regular basis. Nichole de Carle London was created in 2009 by designer and founder Nichole de Carle. Encouraged by her royal heritage with a de Carle family history of creative embassadors Nichole de Carle attended the prestigious Contour Design course at De Montfort University, later graduating with first class honours and top rate fashion jobs lined up.  Nichole de Carle progressed in her career and worked at Donna Karen, Pleasure State and Alexander McQueen where here in particular she was inspired to start her own brand. The vision Nichole de Carle had was to create a lingerie brand with a strong visual for her designs to be architecturally influenced, unique to her but yet identifiable for others - and my-o-my has she succeeded.  As you are about to see Nichole de Carle London has a strong identifiable image that lives and breathes throughout every design in each collection.  It is my pleasure to now present to you my top picks from this exquisite brand.

Top Picks:
I say 'top picks' but go on to the Nichole de Carle London website and try and stop yourself from trying to catch your breath at each and every piece you see - top picks was not easy so I am going to split it into two posts (just more gorgeousness to feast your eyes on!).  This post will be based on the more easily translatable to ready-to-wear pieces and the following post will concentrate on the more daring side of underwear as outerwear (keep your eyes peeled on Sunday for it going live!).  So let us begin.

SS14 Black Label Onyx Tuxedo:
SS14 Black Label Onyx Tuxedo - Made to Order
SS14 Black Label Onyx Tuxedo - Made to Order
SS14 Black Label Onyx Tuxedo - Made to Order
Do you recognise this piece?  Of course you do, this is the flawless outfit that Beyonce rocked on stage at the Grammy's in 2014 with her husband Jay-Z for their performance of Drunk In Love.  Ok, so that makes me like the piece even more but the reasons my heart flutters when looking at it.  Firstly, the shape, not too tight over the arms and body but just right.  The design is curve enhancing and flatters the female form perfectly with strong architectural lines over the brief area and a zip leading up to the neck which also leads your eyes - it is like a painting with such fabulous composition.  The sheer fabric is just right, not too see-through but just enough to see your bra through it.  So for my ready-to-wear spin, let's imagine - slip on a semi-sheer maxi skirt in black or white and depending on the occasion grab your favourite sexy pair of heels or throw on some white converse for a damn-my-outfit-is-sexy-but-rocking-it-during-the-day-requires-converse spin. You could also slip over a pair of classic black cigarettes pants or some wide-leg trousers, pop on a pair of heels and you have a fabulous dinner to bedroom outfit sorted.  So how much is this delightful piece?  I ain't going to lie this is expensive but hey - it's luxury you are buying here so what do you expect!  The SS14 Black Label Onyx Tuxedo from Nichole de Carle London retails at £351.00 available in sizes XS, S, M, L and XL and is part of the brands Made to Order selection.  This does not include the bra worn underneath (I am assuming this, it is not clear on the website) which is called the Black Label Onyx Plunge Bra retailing at £174.00 available in sizes 32B-D, 34B-D, 36B-C (not a fantastic range but with it being made to order, maybe we could request an alternative size - if you don't ask you don't get and all) as part of the brands Made to Order range.  A serious investment, but with this attention to detail and incredible design and quality - it is well worth it in my eyes!

SS14 Black Label Onyx Body - Made to Order:
SS14 Black Label Onyx Body - Made to Order

SS14 Black Label Onyx Body - Made to Order
Next up is the beautiful SS14 Black Label Onyx Body from the brands Made to Order selection.  This body with its strong lines, architectural inspired form and fashion-forward cut-outs makes this body so pleasing to the eye and I bet when worn you would feel damn sexy too.  Now this is the perfect piece to slip on a suitable pair of bottoms - imagine some ripped boyfriend jeans and some white converse or a pair of killer heels to rock it in the evening.  Or let's make it ultra chic with a black tuxedo jacket and black trousers again interchanging your footwear to suit the occasion.  As I have said before and I will say time and time again, this look is not about wearing your underwear in the streets.  It is about taking an underwear piece, a strong fashion-forward statement piece and mixing it with your ready-to-wear wardrobe in a style that celebrates the female form yet retains your class and sophistication.  The look is strong and empowering - that is why I love it so much. The beautiful SS14 Black Label Onyx Body retails at £555.00 and is available in sizes X-Small B-D, Small B-D, Medium B-D, Large B-C and X-Large B-C (again, I am not mad about the size range but it is under the made to order section so the question could be asked - it wouldn't hurt I guess).  The body is also available in other colour-ways White/White and Silver/Pewter, Black and White and the AW13 colour-way which incorporates Black, Red Lace and White.  Again, it is expensive like a mortgage payment expensive but it is an investment piece that you would love and cherish for years to come - I would hang this one out as a display!

SS14 Loungewear Playsuit:
SS14 Loungewear Playsuit
SS14 Loungewear Playsuit
SS14 Loungewear Playsuit
This is definitely the most transferable piece of underwear to ready-to-wear that I am offering in this post. Not only does it look ultra chic and fashion-forward but how comfortable does this look to lounge around the house in - in style of course!  I adore the use of decorative panelling to accentuate the body and the not-too-tight fit which gives it that loungewear, luxe vibe that I am craving at the moment.  So let's get ready-to-wear our playsuit outside (like what I did there?!) - it's simple ladies, just throw on a pair of bottoms, anything from boyfriend jeans, black tailored trousers, frayed denim cut-offs for a festival vibe or a flamboyant, structural shaped skirt for the ultimate in street style chic.  The SS14 Loungewear Playsuit made from luxurious silk, lace and powernet retails at £229.00 and is available in sizes XS, S, M and L. Other colour-ways available include Teal/Black and White/Claret/Black.

SS14 Loungewear Pyjama Trousers:

SS14 Loungewear Pyjama Trouser - Made to Order
Now this was and still is my had-to-catch-my-breathe moment because my-o-my these trousers are divine. The flowing fit and form that creates the most sophisticated and heart-stopping silohette is just that - heart-stopping.  Made in a loose fit design with sheer corded lace flare panels and a silk waistband these trousers are the ultimate in loungewear luxury.  And their ease to move into ready-to-wear is so simple - throw on an oversized ribbed jumper in cream or white and throw on some black heels and you are most likely to be snapped for a street style section in a fashion magazine.  Or rock them with a simple white tee and white converse for a relaxed twist on an ultra sophisticated pair of trousers.  The options are endless and wearing any of these options will also be fabulous with the strong beauty these trousers possess!  The SS14 Loungewear Pyjama Trouser from Nichole de Carle London's Made to Order collection are available in sizes XS, S, M, L and XL and retail at £195.00.  Also shown is the SS14 Loungewear Pyjama Top from the Made to Order collection which which retails at £225.00.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about the stunning Nichole de Carle London brand and my top picks from the brand at the moment - I am sure there will be more in the future also!  The second part of the Nichole de Carle London post for my Underwear as Outerwear series will be available on Sunday morning!  Please comment below and let me know your thoughts on this post and my top picks - I love hearing all your feedback and interacting with my readers!

Hope you are all having a great start to the week!

Underwear as Outerwear: Brand Profile and Top Picks - Bebaroque

Hello and welcome to my second brand focus post for my Underwear as Outerwear series!  I am over the moon with the comments and feedback that this series (read the last two posts here and here) has provided me with and it is great to see my readership increase post upon post so I just want to take this chance to say thank you to my readers (old and new) - I really appreciate your feedback and you all taking the time to read my posts.  If you don't already follow me, come and follow me on Bloglovin - it is by far the best way to follow your favourite blogs and you will be kept up to date with all my new posts!  I have lots of lovely posts planned for the coming weeks and would hate to think you are all missing out!  I know, I know that's enough chit-chat Claire, let's get back to business!

The Credentials:
So today I have a brand for you all that I have been head over heels with for a number of years now.  I feel like I have watched the company grow and the amount of exposure they gain now is very much deserved.  It is particularly close to my heart because it is a Scottish brand, with all pieces hand-made here in Bonnie Scotland.  Bebaroque are an award winning fashion label with their core pieces including hosiery, bodysuits and leggings.  The brand are known for their intricate detailing, luxe designs and statement pieces.  This is decoration for your body at it's finest.  The name of the brand, Bebaroque reflects the essence of the company perfectly with the word 'Baroque' relating to a period of art in Europe in the early 17th and 18th century with characteristics of ornate detailing and bold, curving forms - all core features of Bebaroques' fashion pieces.  Established in 2007 by designers Mhairi McNicol and Chloe Patience, the brand has gone from strength to strength and are forever gracing the pages of Vogue, Elle, Company, Harpers Bazaar, Dazed & Confused and Nylon to name but a few!  Celebrities, fashion editors and bloggers have also gone mad for Bebaroque with Ellie Goulding, Katy Perry, Susie Bubble and - my favourite - Beyonce all sporting the brand.  The brand for me fit my Underwear as Outerwear series as these are fashion pieces that should not be hidden!  The use of skin-flashing mesh, ornate detailing over the torso and focus on decorating the body has connotations of lingerie and it has drawn me to the brand time and time again.  For this post I will be showing you my top picks from the Bebaroque brand website and then showcasing some of the images from the brands style gallery - fashion styling with luxe detailing.  Let's have some fun!

Top Picks:
Anastasiya Silk Body in Light Pink:

Meet the Anataisya Silk Body from Bebaroque.  The only word I can use to describe this piece is divine. This light pink silk body is graced with beautiful silver and dusky pink beaded floral embroidery in an alluring cut showing a little but not too much - the 'unpublished' way.  The subtle colour yet emphasis on detail draws me to this piece, it is a statement but a understated one that creates some mystery and fantasy - a piece that encourages imagination because that's what underwear as outerwear is all about.  It would be fabulous for editorial work or rocked with some high-waisted black trousers and heels for a luxe look.  It would also be the most glamorous loungewear, I seriously want to drink my morning coffee wearing this! The Anastasiya Silk Body in light pink is available via the Bebaroque website currently reduced to £195.00 from £660.00 (70% off).  The body is available in sizes small and medium and there is only one left in stock in each size so be quick if you want to grab this piece.

This is how hosiery should be done - at all times.  Statement hosiery can make an outfit go from good to wow!  It adds extra detailing without being too loud and detracting attention from the rest of the outfit. These tights would be perfect for a bride, imagine these under your wedding gown with your beautiful wedding underwear.  The gorgeous 40 denier dancer tights are decorated with a beautiful floral encrusted design made from finely cut vintage inspired crystals (Bebaroque, 2014).  The detailing is beyond beautiful and is hand embroidered in Scotland.  I have so much respect for brands that appreciate the beauty of detailing and take extra time and care and love and attention to their pieces.  You are not wearing a fashion piece churned out by a machine, the Bebaroque owners have poured their heart and soul into these pieces and to me that is fashion.  Hosiery is also a subtle way to nod to the underwear as outerwear trend as yes it is technically outerwear and will always be on show when worn but at the same time it is still personal and the nature of hosiery has an aura of being intimate. The Diamond Rosa Tights are available via the Bebaroque website for £95.00 in a one size only option.

Black Diamond Rosa Tight:

Just in case, the beige colour was not your style I had to feature the Black Diamond Rosa Tight by Bebaroque.  Part of their limited edition Diamond Rosa Hosiery Collection with only three pairs made and only two are available to purchase (a lucky person already has their pair so be quick and don't miss out!).  These tights would add a vintage twist to an outfit and an ornate detail that would have everyone asking: 'Where did you get those?!' - all night long!  Imagine a short black leather dress paired with these tights and some killer shoes - that would be a fashion forward outfit if ever I heard of one!  Let me know how you would style these in the comments below!  The black 40 denier tights with gorgeous floral encrusted embroidery on the lower shin come in at £105.00 on the Bebaroque website.

Gold Anastasiya Body and Leggings:

This is editorial fashion at it's finest.  This image screams to me, I am so in love with it.  The styling and movement brought to the image by the brand make the pieces stand out more than if they were on a mannequin.  I really appreciate brands who take time to present their underwear and fashion offerings in an editorial style.  It adds drama and life to the pieces and for an editorial lover like me - it draws me in and makes me want more.  The pieces shown are the Gold Anastasiya Body and Gold Anastasiya Leggings both by Bebaroque - unfortunately I do not know where this lust-worthy boots are from!  The Gold Anastasiya Body is a limited edition piece for the brand and only one has ever been made so this is an investment in fashion history not just the purchase of a beautiful bodysuit.  The Gold Anastasiya Body retails at £395.00 via the Bebaroque website in a size small.  The matching Gold Anastasiya Leggings are available for £195.00 currently reduced by 47% (that's a saving of £170!) via the Bebaroque website.  If I had a spare £600 lying around - this would be my investment.  I would love to hang them in my wardrobe and just stare at their beauty and precise craftsmanship.  I adore this brand for those reasons, I wouldn't just wear the pieces I would just love to have them in my closet to look at and appreciate them - that's a true fashion brand!  I mean just look at this detail - this is beauty.

Bebaroque Style Gallery:
I want these posts to be inspiring for your underwear wardrobe and for your everyday wardrobe.  I want to blur the lines between underwear and outerwear and illustrate how beautifully we can dress when we don't see those two forms of dressing as separate but as one - keeping it 'unpublished' and only showing a little and not too much, it's all about imagination.  Below I have selected my favourite pictures from the Bebaroque style gallery (view more here) - I adore how these pieces have been captured, the editing and the styling. Let me know what your favourite picture is in the comments below (picture number five has stole me heart)!

I hope you have enjoyed this post for my underwear as outerwear series.  Bebaroque are a brand that steal my heart for their unique design, attention to detail, precise craftsmanship and of course their Scottish heritage!  These pieces are investments, they are not only wearable and stylish but they are just so beautifully made it would be enough just to see them everyday in my wardrobe even if I didn't wear them.  I really love flicking through the Bebaroque style gallery, it is an inspiring collection of photography demonstrating the brands beautiful pieces but also all of their customers fabulous style and that is what it is all about for me - it's how we rock it.  It's our individual twist that we bring to a piece.  Well done Bebaroque on a beautiful, stylish and hand-crafted brand - I want to come visit you in Edinburgh!

Don't fret my lovely readers, there are many more underwear as outerwear brand posts to come and I really do have some goodies tucked up my sleeve so stay tuned for those!  Keep up to date with everything 'unpublished' and my daily antics over on Bloglovin, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest!
